The Remote Desktop protocol (RDP) is Microsoft's way of running a remote session. However, this protocol has also been implemented for other operating systems, both as client (viewing the session) and as server (running the session).
In general: we do NOT offer RDP over the internet (except to the Windows RDS system, see below). In order to connect to an RDP server, you need to be on our local net (including our cabled network, but excluding other university nets and eduroam). The best way to connect from outside, or when on eduroam, is to use our institute's VPN.
